Lately, I’ve been working on getting more organized and structured in a way that allows me to develop legitimate consistency with some of my side projects. As work and other aspects of life have the ability to takeover our emotional and physical energy – it’s easy to lose focus and momentum on our side projects or our passions outside of what is paying the bills. A question keeps popping in to my head…

I have a separate project that typically captures the majority of my disposable time in the fall months. It’s a hobby I really enjoy and am passionate about, but sometimes I’ll catch myself falling into a dangerous pattern of thinking regarding it’s future success or lack there of. The project is a separate blog on the University of Michigan’s college football team. I grew up going to games with my father and watching them on TV, so naturally I became passionate about it as I also played football while in high school.

Many of us that don’t have extreme skills to visualize what the future will be like – as a consequence of today, tomorrow and the next day. I’ve totally fallen into the “someday” thought process, which is a rather easy trap to fall into.

For whatever reason, lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the desire and longing to find excellence. It’s a desire that some people have and some people don’t. I mean, sure, if I stop people on the street and ask them if they want to be excellent at life and at what they do – I’m sure just about every person would, in some way or another, would say “yes”. I’ll say it. I want to be excellent.

But how does that translate?

Talk about overdue. I’ve been meaning to write about Neil Pasricha’s book titled “The Book of Awesome” for way too long. Neil was kind and generous enough to send me a free advance copy of his book before it hit stores – so the least I can do is share my thoughts on how much I’ve enjoyed his book and his blog, 1000 Awesome Things.

Music is a great enhancer of emotion and befriends your mood whether it’s happy, sad, fired up, sleepy, bored, etc., etc. The video and song below is a very chill song and when I listen to it two words really stand out: breathe and believe.

A great quote stuck with me last week as I was doing some light reading between traveling from Denver, Dallas and San Francisco all in the same day.
