The past is the past and that’s that. I get it. People make mistakes, people do things that they may do differently if presented with the same situation. Focusing on the future is what’s important – and knowing that the story of your life is decided by what you choose to do with it.
Digging Deeper:
Regardless of your predicament, you can approach the rest of your life as if it is starting today. Living in the past, and/or allowing your past to dictate your decisions and attitude in the present is what you want to steer clear from. Learning from your past is a must, but letting your past haunt you isn’t going to get your far. Your state of mind will be stagnant and your creativity will be nonexistent (and we all know the power of creativity and an active imagination!).
The quote applies to you, because you have the power to get something started today. You also have the power to do it again tomorrow. Learn from what’s happened in the past – and move forward. Never fear failure – living in the past or dreaming about what could have been is the ultimate failure.
What to Walk Away With:
The key to this quote is that anyone can start today. Starting is where it stops for a lot of people. It’s almost like going to the gym – it’s really hard to drag yourself to your car in order to go workout – but once you do you are happy that you’ve done it and you realize the positivity that it brings into your life. The difference is huge, but getting started is the biggest challenge for most people. It’s too easy to put things off for the alternative of your comfort zone. In order to start living the rest of your life today you must throw yourself into new experience, new environments and get out of your comfort zone. So give it a shot! Do something that you don’t usually do – something that you know is beneficial to you. Chances are you’ll be enlightened and inspired!
