How to Think if Failure Didn’t Exist

Sundays are good days for reflection and taking a look at yet another great quote. It’s common for most people to regroup a bit on Sunday, or simply do something different every Sunday as kind of a refresher before the week starts. It’s important that we have those types of days – days that give us a chance to plan and set the tone for what lies ahead. Today’s quote is:
“What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail.” – Robert Schuller
Initial Thoughts:
A very empowering quote. Not often are you prompted to think about what you would do with your life if there were no constraints pulling you away. It’s posed in a different way – in the sense that your dreams or goals aren’t only what you can consider here. On the surface, I’d like to skydive but I’m a little paranoid about throwing my body out of an airplane 12,000 feet off the earth – but I’d do it in a heartbeat if I knew nothing would go wrong.
Digging Deeper:
One thing that makes this quote very interesting is that it undertakes the presumption that people know or think they will fail. What makes it even better, is that it opens your mind and allows your true creativity to step forward. Just what exactly would and could you do with your life if failure wasn’t even a possibility let alone a thought? Taking that into consideration lets the true you really come out, because you have nothing holding you back. Typically, life has it’s clever little way of overwhelming people to the point that they are always just too busy, or have this, that – and therefore convince themselves that they can’t do something. Many times if you ask a person why they can’t or won’t pursue an opportunity – they don’t have a good answer. This is because they are afraid of failing – being out of their comfort zone or away from the norm.
What to Walk Away With:
Many quotes interrelate and are very complimentary. In going back to “I think, therefore I am”, understand that so much of what becomes reality is a direct result of what’s going on upstairs in your head. If you walk into something thinking you are going to fail – you most probably will! What’s very important here, is knowing that your best direction in life should be based on creative thoughts manifested from a mind free from thoughts of failure or negativity.
