20 Ways to Find Inspiration: #12
Written by Michael Weaver | Follow me on Twitter | Free updates via Email.
Intro: This was initially one post listing out 20 great methods or things you can use to find inspiration in your life. I have decided to expand upon each one (in no particular order!) because so often we read “how-to’s” and different things we should do in list forms – and typically no action is ever taken. I wanted to talk in more detail about how I interpret and get inspired by each one.
#12 – Consult Your Dreams
“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” -Gail Devers
Life. One word and it sounds so simple! Not so fast my friend! You and I know that there are days, weeks, and even months that can make you want to pull your hair out. It’s easy to let ourselves get bogged down by the many tasks and busy schedules that are inevitable year in and year out. I’ve noticed that when life starts to get hectic, we lose our focus relative to our ultimate goal – fulfilling our dreams.
Take a few minutes as often as you can to think deeply about where you want to be in life. What is your perfect day? Where would you be? Who would you be with? What would you be doing? Live the day out in your mind. As unattainable as it may seem, if you visualize consistently and take your mind to that place – you’re already a lot closer than many will ever get.
“Why” is a very important word to me. Don’t forget why you work hard. The details of your perfect day, your perfect world – make up the reasons you tackle those daily tasks and fill up your calendar. That link is very important – and keeping your dreams connected to your daily life is a great way to stay focused and inspired.
I get so much energy and inspiration by letting go of the stuff bouncing around in my head – and thinking about my perfect day. When it’s time to get back what’s bouncing around upstairs, those daily tasks and things I have to do don’t seem so daunting because I know what my “why” is.
Try it – Consult your dreams. You’ll get much closer to making them become reality. I promise.
