Let Your Sense of Humor Guide You
For the last month or so for my day job, I’ve been put in a project management role on a crazy-fast paced project that was ridiculously energy and time intensive. This thing was killer. It went down and the project was a success, but all those back to back 20+ hour days on my timesheet didn’t feel so great at the time. I was run down and worn out when I finally had the opportunity to go home.
Needless to say, I may not have made it through all the frustrating and stressful moments if couldn’t connect with my sense of humor. In stressful, high-tension situations in life, being able to calmly proceed and utilize your sense of humor is a great trait to have on your side.
The sense of humor thing – it’s up to you…
During my trip and throughout the course of the project – I had some climactic moments where shit was hitting the fan. Things got a little crazy due to the timeline of the project. So, after one of these crazy climactic days I came to a realization that served me up right for the remainder of the project.
Today. Today I am not going to get stressed out. And that’s the bottom line.
I set the reset button in my mind before the next day started. I was not going to get stressed – I was going to do what I had to do on my terms and by my pace. Before I knew it – my sense of humor came back and I was borderline enjoying myself.
The mental decision to just roll with it and enjoy myself was the best decision I made over the course of the long month. Finding your sense of humor offers you an opportunity to gain more clarity and be more creative. Stressing, worrying, and giving off that kind of vibe is not good for you nor is it good for anyone around you.
