A To-Do List
Life is crazy busy, right? It feels like a big blur sometimes, right? So, to keep things straight and gather the things that are bouncing around in your head – you make a list.
Everybody keeps one in some shape or form. You have to right? Well, you may not have to, but I certainly do! Without my to-do list I aimlessly wonder through my email accounts and saved bookmarks.
I used to flop back and forth between hand-written to-do lists and electronic versions of the aforementioned – with the thought that I am just a pencil and paper kind of guy. Even if you are in the same boat as me, the benefits of an electronic to-do list, in time, is going to outweigh the efficiency or greatness of your favorite notepad or planner.
It was unfortunate when I learned this, but it’s no doubt true.
Todoist.com
This is a wonderful little site that I use on a daily basis to manage what I have going on in life, at work, side projects, etc. It’s extremely user-friendly and simple to use. You can make as many lists as you want, the ability to categorize your major buckets, have the ability to check off items when they are done, etc, etc, etc.
I find a lot of productivity and task-oriented tools way too complex and overbearing. The visual simplicity of just your list and potentially a date and colored priority in Todoist – makes it all that much easier to manage.
There are countless ways to enhance how you use the tool – one example is that you can easily add a due date by simply typing +3 (in 3 days), or “today”, or “tomorrow”, etc. A second example – you can start a line item off with an asterisk and your entry will appear without a check box. So it’s a nice little way of adding a note under an entry.
I would recommend Todoist to anybody – it’s a deceptively simple, minimalist tool that I have found to be extremely beneficial in keeping my life organized!
