How Your Attitude Can Change Your Life
Written by Michael Weaver | Follow me on Twitter | Free updates via Email.
Growing up my father always reminded me that “attitude is everything.” It’s the one thing that you can control every morning when you wake up and roll, jump, or have to be dragged out of bed. However you get out of bed and get yourself going in the morning, go rinse off your face with some cold water and get yourself psyched up. Think of what you can do that day to make it worthwhile and potentially great. Tell yourself what you plan on doing and accomplishing that day – and have an attitude. There is no better time to set the stage for a day than right after you wake up. Give it a shot. You actually have to try it to realize that it actually works (too often people read up on improvement methods and while they agree it may be a great idea, they forget about the taking action part!).
Attitude can be used as a great tool to pull out of a slump, or out of a tough circumstance. Sometimes, it’s one of those “Aha!”-type moments that people have as they become conscious of their attitude. Things happen that are out of our control in life, it’s just the way it is. But, and this is an important “but”, you have the free will to choose how you react to any circumstance. And it all starts with your attitude.
Just like anything in life worthwhile, it takes work and it takes practice. Sometimes it won’t come natural, and you have to remind yourself of what you are working towards and consciously manage your attitude. It’s well worth it because afterall – attitude is everything.
Here are some of my favorite quotes on attitude:
- “Attitudes are contagious, is yours worth catching?”
- “If you don’t think everyday is a good day, just try missing one”
- “I had the blues because I had no shoes until upon the street, I met a man who had no feet”
- “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”
- “If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it”
- “The only disability in life is a bad attitude”
- “I don’t like that man, I must get to know him better”

What up!
I completely agree with you that attitude is everything. Which means that your perception and reception of life determines fully of how you feel.
If you have a negative attitude towards life, and then life likely to return the favor and make you feel bad. That is just how it works, some people call it “Karma”
Anyways, nice post, hope to see more comin’

Thank you for your comment. I like what you have said as well – your feelings and emotions are directly linked to the attitude you maintain as you progress through your life.
Very good and concise post! Attitude is everything in that it effects everything in your life to one extent or another. Isn’t it funny how people who have a more positive attitude towards things get a lot more good luck occurring in their life? At the same time, isn’t it interesting how people who have a mostly negative, pessimistic or cynical attitude in life get a lot more bad luck occurring their life?
It’s my personal belief that the more you put into something, the more you get out of it. This is all the more true with the attitude one chooses to have and the energy they choose to put into it. (Negative in, negative out. Positive in, positive out.)
Thanks for sharing this post and the quotes with the rest of us…good stuff!!

Gil,
Thanks for visiting man! You’re right – you gotta put in the effort and realize that it’s something you have to practice at.

Thanks for the post. My goal is to always turn a negative into a positive. You might not be able to change the things you need to do, but you can choose what frame of mind you want to have while doing those things.
Loren,
You’re right – your attitude is your decision regardless of the variety of influential circumstances that you might be facing.

If you think about it, LOA is all about attitude. Many people think they need to “put on” a positive attitude and their wishes will be granted. Putting on attitude isn’t the same a believing at a soul deep level in “how” you receive life’s worst and best events.
At the darkest and scariest time in my life, I had that aha moment when I was guided to letting go and just receiving. I learned to change my attitude to one of appreciation and gratitude for the smallest things and to open the doors as they were presented. Behind each door was an adventure that led to another even better adventure. I learned to say “thank you” for every opportunity regardless of the challenge. I “looked for” the opportunity in every challenge. Guess what, I found opportunity everywhere.
Attitude: open your door everyday, look outside as you walk through the portal and say thank you for this amazing day. Even if you are walking out into a wild thunderstorm without an umbrella….it is still the most amazing day!
Sue,
You have an inspiring approach! You’re right – there are people that miss great opportunities simply because they have a negative approach, which leads to a creativity block and flushes out the great vibes that positivity brings.
Great comment!

One of my favirites from Dr. Wayne Dyer: “I cannot always control what goes on outside. But I can always control what goes on inside.”
Ed,
That’s a fantastic quote and man is it true! We have much more control on what goes on inside then we give ourselves credit for.
Thanks for the comment!

Mike, I know from years of personal experience that your attitude determines the outcomes in your life. Your Dad was right; no matter what is going on in your life, the attitude with which you approach it will
determine the quality ofyour life. I have friends who some would label as severely disabled, who have
overcome great challenges and yet are joyful, loving and inspirational people. Others who have no physical limitations can wallow in negativity. I think it’s always a choice. I choose to serve, to love, and to uplift and my motto is “Be Fired Up!”
Snowden,
Appreciate you making the choice to comment!
