9 Ways You Can “Make It Happen”

In life there are times when you simply need to “Make It Happen”. There is a power in taking on the mindset that you are going to make it happen – no questions asked. When challenged or in a situation where you know there are some obstacles in front of you – what can you do? What do you tell yourself? What do you tell your team? How can you simply “make it happen” and get the result you desire?
Maybe you’ve already employed this simple state of mind in your life – on the other hand, maybe this is a method that might help you get that tough assignment done, or get through that project you are struggling with at work, or more importantly get you closer to achieving your dreams and goals. Making it happen is a way to transcend your state of mind past your obstacle. Think about it – you are essentially painting a picture of yourself having your obstacle in the rear view mirror. Here are 9 methods and techniques to get you to simply “make it happen”….

  1. Break it Down.
It’s common for cumbersome tasks and difficult situations to be very overwhelming, which can stop you in your tracks. Paying off debt is a great example. A large sum of debt is very overwhelming when you have a fixed income. Your goal is to pay it off – but you are overwhelmed because it seems like it will take forever. Create short term goals – how much can you save / payoff in three months? Breaking it down makes it manageable, it allows you to follow through, and in the end – you make it happen.
  2.

  3. Be Tough. Be Persistent.
Life isn’t easy and at times you simply have to toughen up and continue plowing forward. You have to be willing and ready for letdowns. You’ll have people wanting to bring you down if you are very ambitious and passionate about what you are doing. Believing in what you are doing allows you to have that thick skin, that toughness that doesn’t let anyone or anything knock you off your path to “Making It Happen.”
  4.

  5. Gain Perspective.
It’s common to get too entrenched in the data. Avoid burying yourself with too much detail and data ALL the time. While it’s important to be an expert when you need to “make it happen”, it’s equally as important to have the ability to gain perspective as if you were an outsider. Gaining perspective fuels your creativity and allows your long-term vision to step into action.
  6.

  7. Have an Attitude.
Don’t go around knocking papers off your coworkers’ desks because you need to have an attitude! Light a fire under your ass because you have the right attitude. Attitude drives behavior – and when you need to be focused and creative – a positive attitude is exactly what you can use to your advantage.
  8.

  9. Recognize Progress.
Following these ideas to “Make It Happen” allows you to track your progress because you are breaking it down into short-term goals. Short-term goals are easy to track and allow you to follow through at a higher rate. So take some pressure off of yourself after completing some goals and congratulate yourself. Award yourself in some way – and you’ll be even more fired up to continue your progression.
  10.

  11. Be Resourceful.
Any successful person will be able to tell you stories in life and in their chosen path where their ability to be resourceful paid off big. I’ve mentioned the importance and value of using your imagination and being creative – and being resourceful fits right in. How many hoops might you have to jump through to figure something out? You will naturally be resourceful if you do anything and everything it takes to reach the goals you set for yourself.
  12.

  13. Get Rejected
This one seems to be particularly worthy of an explanation. If you are on track for reaching a goal you’ve set, chances are you have tried this process: try – fail – learn – rinse – repeat – and you do this until you succeed. If you do whatever it takes to “Make It Happen” you will find that the more you get rejected, the less you care because you are on a mission – where your passion and belief take over other emotions like rejection.
  14.

  15. Seek Inspiration.
Get inspired. Finding inspiration is a way to fuel your body and mind with energy. It’s interwoven throughout the other methods – inspiration has a funny way of improving your attitude, refocusing your vision and igniting your excitement. Keep your eyes peeled for another post that will give you 50 Ways to Find Inspiration – coming soon!
  16.

  17. Maintain Momentum.
Momentum is critical. It’s like anything in life, the more you do it and the more you focus on it – the more it grows and builds. Whatever “it” is, if you follow these methods and maintain your momentum you are sure to begin completing goals and getting that much closer to “MAKING IT HAPPEN”.
