The Simplicity of Discipline

26 January 2010 No Comment The Simplicity of Discipline

Being more disciplined is a focus in my life right now. I thought it would serve my audience well to share!

“Discipline is remembering what you want.” – David Campbell

Initial Thoughts

I’m not always disciplined, but it’s okay because I make up for it in other places. I know what I want for the most part, but what’s the real connection between discipline and remembering what I want? I get my job done just fine and I still know what I want.

Digging Deeper

The trick with being disciplined is pulling your emotions into the mix. Once you start thinking about your future and where you want to be, you can work back words and realize that you have a lot of work to do! Being disciplined isn’t the easiest thing to do in this world. Your wants and dreams aren’t fulfilled because someone is going to take care of them for you. The responsible party for those wants is you and you only. It’s easy to lose sight of what you are working for when the daily drag digs into your head too much. It’s important to withhold perspective, and align your current responsibilities with your emotions, dreams and long-term goals of what it is that you want to accomplish in life.

What to Walk Away With

You can really only truly be disciplined when you understand the consequences of your behavior and actions. You must understand why you must be disciplined in order to attain your goals. If you don’t have a clear why – then a sense of indifference can overrule your ability to inch closer to what you want out of life. Here are a few tips on being disciplined. The key is simple, yes it’s hard, but it’s simple – discipline.
