Your Dreams Demand Your Attention

“Life is denied by lack of attention, whether it be to cleaning windows or trying to write a masterpiece.” – Nadia Boulanger
Initial Thoughts
I rush. I often don’t think things entirely through. So, naturally not all of my goals and dreams receive my time and attention. Do things sometimes fall through the cracks? Sure. You can’t always give the amount of attention you want to towards hobbies, dreams, your job, etc. So, I guess I am denying myself the things I really want because I don’t give them much attention.
Digging Deeper
Being human, and completely unique as individuals, what we consider to be completely fulfilling relative to life varies. But what doesn’t vary, for the ones who have achieved their dreams or have found what it is that fulfills them, is the relentless attention given. In its simplest form, things don’t happen if you cannot give your attention to them. And attention is time. Attaining “life”, as suggested by this quote, requires your attention.
What to Walk Away With
Regardless of whether or not you know what you want out of life, do yourself a huge favor you’ll never regret, and give what you want the time of day. Just a little consistent attention and it (you) will begin to feel that “life” mentioned in the quote. Our weeks and weekends get busy and hectic. But don’t be denied what fills you up with joy just because you have deadlines to meet at work. Dedicate some personal time, where you can lose sight of the past, drop thoughts concerning the future – and allow yourself to get creative and give some much needed attention to the things you truly desire in life.
