An Approach to Taking Action

It’s a Friday – and that means it’s another great day to review an inspirational quote! Today’s quote is about taking action from one of the best athletes to every play the game of hockey.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”- Wayne Gretzky
Initial Thoughts
No kidding! Of course you aren’t going to make a shot if you don’t take it. The essence of this quote is very true. If it is your goal to score – how are you going to get it done if you don’t shoot? If you want to get closer to achieving your dream – what do you need to do to start taking some shots at it? This is a good way to set your mindset – understanding that you aren’t going to get far if you don’t try through taking action.
Digging Deeper
You’d be surprised what taking action can do for you. The easiest route through life is the path of least resistance – which usually involves NO action taken on your part. The most rewarding path is one full of experiences through taking action. I like using the baseball analogy as well – you can’t get any hits if you don’t pick up a bat and step up to the plate.
What to Walk Away With
Often times people have the know-how to get something done – or to be successful at their job, in class, with their family, etc. The problem is that not everybody follows through, leverages that knowledge with action. Just think about it – if you don’t take action on something that you want to improve or change – how is it going to get better? It’s not – unless you take action. And you should start taking action as soon as possible, you’ll be happy you did.
